Biography: |
Kerry Larkan is an acclaimed consultant, author and international speaker.
Originally from Australia, Kerry had a successful career in earlier years as a manager and leader, with responsibility for a large budget and a staff of over 400 people. His skills in understanding what drives successful companies, and how people contribute to that success, have been gained in over 25 years of practical application and in countless scenarios.
Following his relocation to Hong Kong in early 2005, Kerry realized that many companies across Asia were in need of revitalization. As a speaker and consultant, the list of clients who began to seek his help quickly grew, and now includes such well-known and successful names as Prudential Hong Kong, CPA Australia, BP, Clipsal, Hexcel, Drager, Essilor and HP Invent.
Kerry passionately believes that a company's success is largely determined by its culture and its leadership, and that key to both of these is the development of outstanding people skills. Turning companies into employers of choice, and creating a compelling employment brand that attracts the right talent, are the themes that drive Kerry's success.
As an advisor and coach, Kerry works with senior executives and their teams to assess each individual company's opportunities for leadership and organizational development. Applying tools such as the Strategic Alignment Survey, Senior Team Alignment Survey and Disc Indra, he then develops a unique portfolio that addresses a number of focus areas, from organizational culture and team dynamics (including conflict resolution), through to retention and motivation strategies, mentoring programs, employee engagement initiatives, and change management. Kerry will also advise on designing and implementing an employment brand
As an active conference speaker in Asia and Australia, Kerry is noted for his refreshing thought–provoking perspectives and insights to organizational problems and barriers. Much in demand as a mentor, his ability to develop and implement successful change strategies is also highly sought after.
In 2004, Kerry completed a major piece of research on staff loyalty and employers of choice, leading to the launch of his concept "Good Boss – Bad Boss"® and resulting in the publication of his first book, "The Talent War", which has proven popular throughout Asia Pacific. His latest book, "Winning the Talent War", goes on sale later this year.
Kerry Larkan is frequently interviewed by the Asian media as an expert on staff retention. He has written a series of articles for the South China Morning Post on “Good and Bad Bossesâ€, and contributes to a variety of magazines and online publications. Kerry is a member of the Australian Society of Writers, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, Chairman of the Australian Chamber of Commerce HR Committee Hong Kong, and a past Board member of the National Speakers Association of Australia (NSAA). |
